access key to the Royal Chapel of Versailles was given to the Vicomte de Rohan during a party organized 23 November 2009 in his honor, as as president of the Friends of Versailles for 22 years.
The donor wanted by this gesture to honor both the memory of Baroness Elie de Rothschild - Vice President of the Society of Friends of Versailles from 1992 to 2003 - and the tireless efforts since 1907 by the Society of Friends of Versailles to enrich the collections of the Palace of Versailles and find sponsorships specifically intended to assist the various restorations. This key will enter the permanent collections of the Palace of Versailles and return to its place by being exposed to the heart of the Chapel Royal. Roland's sword, current president of the Friends of Versailles: "I welcome the generosity of our donor, whereby the Royal Chapel of Versailles found this wonderful key, disappeared there over 200 years, most likely at the time of the revolution. This donation reflects the will of all the Friends of Versailles contribute in various forms of radiation that place. " According
sources stored at the National Archives, the model of this key was developed by Grettepin to 1710. It is interesting to note that this is a sculptor, a sculptor and fully confirmed, that the architect Robert de Cotte (1656-1735), prime contractor for the site after 1708, will be addressed in designing the key the chapel. This is probably based on his model in wax or clay, the founder Jacques Desjardins, author elements of the door locks, realized in the final version of gilt bronze.
